	ORIGINAL BOARDS--ORIGINAL SPINE: The top photo of this copy of History of Herkimer County shows typical damage: broken joints and missing leather. The bottom photo shows the completed restoration. "Rebacking" provides a new leather spine to create strength and stability. The original spine has been overlayed and all new materials are blended harmoniously with the old.
